Kala Ghoda
Nestled in the heart of South Bombay, Kala Ghoda is Mumbai’s art & design district and home to Mumbai’s top designers. Kala Ghoda is where you’ll find Sabyasachi and Anita Dongre’s flagship stores, but you’ll also discover some of India’s other top designers. Here are my favorite places to do wedding shopping in Kala Ghoda, but feel free to walk around and discover all the brands and designers Kala Ghoda has to offer!
Sabyasachi Flagship
You know Sabyasachi. He’s the man who made bridal lehengas iconic, and his flagship store in Kala Ghoda is like stepping into a bridal fantasy. From luxurious lehengas to statement-making sarees, Sabyasachi is the go-to place for the traditional bride with a love for a classic silhouette with impeccable tailoring. But you’ll find way more than just your wedding lehenga here, stepping into the world of Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a whole experience! His recently redesigned store in Mumbai is not only an ode to his artistic genius, but also a tribute to India’s maximalist-luxe style. The store is over 3 stories, and is filled with pieces from furniture and decor from Sabyasachi’s personal collection. The wallpaper in each room is inspired by Sabyasachi’s iconic prints, and each floor is adorned with a stunning chandelier and archways. You’ll also be able to see heritage pieces from Sabyasachi’s collection of designs. Going to the Sabya store is the pinnacle of the luxury bridal experience, so I highly recommend starting here!
Anita Dongre
Anita Dongre is another classic Indian bridal designer whose work speaks for itself. Her range of bridal lehengas and sarees are perfect for the soft, feminine bride who loves a traditional touch with modern elegance.
Falguni Shane Peacock
Step into the glamorous world of Falguni Shane Peacock at the FSP flagship in Kala Ghoda, and you’re sure to be blown away! FSP’s designs are known for their stop & stare factor — think feathers, sparkle, and long trains!
Papa Don’t Preach
Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika’s designs are known for their whimsical flair and bright, fun colors — and her store exudes the same magical whimsy as her designs. With circular windows, a bejeweled infinity tree, and a miniature door for elves, stepping into PDP feels like a fairytale come to life. Papa Don’t Preach has become the label of choice for many brides when it comes to their mehendi and reception looks, and her new bridal collection has the same ✨extra✨ touch!
Dolly J
Dolly J has become one of my recent favorite bridal designers, and is definitely on my list of designers to shop at if I ever get married. Her range of silhouettes, colors, and embroideries is truly spectacular and has something for every kind of bride! What makes Dolly J truly special is how she celebrates feminine grace — her pieces exude a sense of romantic beauty, without compromising on bridal grandeur. If you’re the bride who wants a look that’s both soft and stunning, then Dolly J is your perfect match. Whether you're rocking a dreamy lehenga or a flowy sari, get ready to feel like an absolute goddess
Aisha Rao
Aisha Rao’s got a thing for color, drama, and all things extra, and that’s exactly why I’m obsessed. If you’re a bride who wants to turn heads with something fun, vibrant, and packed with personality, Aisha Rao is your dream designer. Think bold, offbeat lehengas in shocking pinks, electric blues, and exquisite embroidery that’s so detailed it almost feels like it belongs in a fairytale. Aisha’s designs are all about making a statement, and her bridal collections are full of whimsical details — from floral embellishments to quirky touches that feel like they’ve been plucked straight out of a couture dream.
Her work is perfect for the bride who wants to combine tradition with a splash of modernity. We’re talking fun-filled flair with a dash of elegance. Whether you're walking down the aisle or having a pre-wedding photoshoot, Aisha Rao’s pieces will make you feel like a true bride — and like you're about to star in the most fabulous wedding movie ever.
Anamika Khanna
If you’re looking for bridal wear that breaks the rules but still feels utterly timeless, Anamika Khanna is the designer you want to check out. Known for her avant-garde approach to traditional Indian wear, Anamika is a master of blending heritage with a modern, edgy twist. From deconstructed lehengas to draped sarees that look like they belong in a fashion editorial, Anamika’s pieces are art. Each garment feels like it has a story to tell, so if you're the kind of bride who wants to wear something different and totally you, Anamika Khanna is your go-to. Plus, her attention to detail? Mind-blowing. No wonder she's the go-to for fashion-forward brides who want to make an unforgettable statement. Whether it’s a structured lehenga or an ethereal cape gown, when you wear Anamika Khanna, you don’t just wear clothes — you wear an experience.
Pernia’s Pop Up
Not ready to commit to a designer or where to even start? Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio is a multi-designer boutique that’s perfect for brides who want a bit of everything — from super intricate lehengas to modern gowns, they’ve got it all. Try on several different designers at once so you can get a better understanding of what designers, styles, and colors suit your style. If you’re on a time crunch or want to narrow down your designer list, start here! They also have outposts ALL over Mumbai so check them out anywhere and use that to guide where you shop next.
Santacruz Shopping
The high-end luxury designers found in Kala Ghoda may not fit everyone’s budgets or styles, if you’re looking for something glamorous without the jaw-dropping prices, head over to Santacruz. The area around SV Road is full of bridal boutiques where you’ll find everything from traditional lehengas to more relaxed, contemporary pieces. It’s all about balance, baby! While wedding shopping is bound to be costly, shopping in this area at least eliminates the cost you would be paying for just the brand name, while still maintaining the glamour and quality.
Kalki Fashion
Similar to Pernia’s, Kalki is another multi-designer showroom, but one that feels a little more price-conscious. Try out a wide variety of designers and styles to see what works best for you!
Roopkala
Roopkala blends the timeless beauty of traditional Indian wear with an exciting modern twist — think vintage silhouettes mixed with fresh, bold elements that make you want to dance all night long. Roopkala is perfect for brides who want to feel like a royalty but don’t want to sacrifice their modern-day sensibilities.
Seasons
Seasons was THE store to shop at when I was growing up and visiting Mumbai every summer. To me, they were one of the first ones to really nail the indowestern look, and going back now, it’s still full of NRIs getting their wedding shopping in! What makes Seasons stand out? Its ability to take classic bridal looks and give them a stunning twist. Think traditional fabrics with modern cuts, classic colors with contemporary embroidery, and designs that will have all eyes on you the moment you step into the room.
Raas
Get ready for customization at its finest! Raas specializes in designing bridal wear that’s tailored to perfection — because your wedding look should be as unique as you are. Every dress here tells a story, and that story can be all yours.
Friendship
Looking for something on a budget but still want that bridal wow-factor? Friendship is your best bet! With a huge range of lehengas and sarees at prices that won’t break the bank, you’ll still feel like a million bucks.
Lokhandwala Market
Lokhandwala Market is where the real bridal shopping fun begins if you’re on a bit of a budget but still want to score something fabulous. Lokhandwala Market in Andheri West is the place where affordable meets absolutely gorgeous. It’s also a great option to do your trousseau shopping, bridesmaids and gift shopping, or find your outfits for any of your pre-wedding events you don’t want to be break the bank on!
Sonu’s Studio
Sonu’s Studio has a great range of budget-friendly lehengas that still feel glamorous and luxurious! They can also customize your look exactly how you want.
Awesome Art Gallery
Awesome Art Gallery has something at every price point and I really love their service. They can also do customizations, so highly recommend them for some of your pre-wedding looks.
Tasneem’s Creations
Tasneem’s Creations can make you the perfect custom bridal look, whether you’re looking for something traditional with a twist or something a bit more modern!
Mumbai’s bridal shopping scene is like no other, offering a mix of luxury, tradition, and affordability in every corner. Whether you're all about couture or looking for something more budget-friendly, the city has something for every bride. Happy shopping, and remember — it’s your big day, so make it count.
