Best Luxury and Boutique Hotels in Mumbai

India is known for its hospitality, and Mumbai’s luxury and boutique hotels definitely deliver. I LIVE for a breakfast buffet in India, and I’m drooling just thinking about some of the buffets at the hotels on this list. While there are new hotels popping up every year in the bustling city, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite ones based on the facilities, service, and location!

Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba

Mumbai’s most iconic hotel and landmark (and India’s first luxury hotel), the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel is a luxury 5-star hotel located in the heart of Colaba in South Bombay, directly across from the equally iconic Gateway of India. If you want to feel like royalty for a few days, this is definitely the hotel for you…literally. The Taj Mahal Palace hotel has a history of hosting royalty, world leaders, and celebrities. Because of its location, it’s perfect for people who are visiting Mumbai for the first time and want to prioritize checking out the city’s main tourist attractions. The rooms are gorgeous, the property smells like jasmine and sandalwood as soon as you enter, and the service is impeccable. There’s some truly amazing fine dining options on the property, and you’ll find everything you need close by.

St. Regis Mumbai

Where the Taj Mahal Palace hotel is all about heritage and old-school elegance, the St. Regis hotel is sleek, and new-age modern. It’s location is ideal, as it’s probably the most centrally located to all of Mumbai’s hot spots. You’ll be minutes away from the Palladium Mall, Kamala Mills, and a quick drive to all of Mumbai’s most buzzing neighborhoods. It’s also frequented by many of the town’s top celebs (and the location of the viral Sid-Kiara wedding’s Mumbai reception)! You could honestly spend the whole day at St. Regis if you come to Mumbai, so make sure you don’t do that and actually check out the rest of the city. But here are some of my favorite things to do: lay by the the pool, post up in the sauna and steam rooms, book a spa treatment, eat at Koishii, grab drinks at Asilo, dinner at By the Mekong, and there’s still tons to do!

JW Marriot Juhu

If you’re going to be spending more time in the suburbs of Mumbai, the JW Marriott’s breakfast buffet is what dreams are made of. Is that the most important thing? No, but I can’t say it doesn’t make my day go 10x better. AND they often have an incredible live flautist who plays classic Bollywood melodies as you sip your fresh chai and eat your hot masala dosa with extra chillies of course. Outside of the breakfast buffet, the property is excellent and is located really close to the airport and not to far from the lively neighborhood of Bandra! You’ll also get to take advantage of Juhu Beach’s stunning sunsets. You’re also likely to run into some Bollywood celebs here, so keep your eyes peeled in the lobby!

Soho House

While Soho House is members only, if you can find someone to book you a room — I highly recommend staying here. It feels like a modern day resort in the heart of the Mumbai suburbs. The views are incredible, and you’re bound to run into Mumbai’s best crowd. If your priority is meeting people and making connections, Soho House is a great option for you.

Sofitel BKC

A little out of the way in the business district of Mumbai, if you prefer something that’s a little less chaotic, the Sofitel is for you! I love how spacious the rooms are, and I truly love the service. And with some of the city’s best restaurants like Yuautcha and Cin Cin around, as well as the Jio World Plaza mall, you’ll have everything you need close by. And it still is only 25 minutes away from all of the main neighborhoods in the city, so it’s not that far out of the way. If you can snag a good deal here, it really is a no-brainer.

The Kin Hotel

The Kin Hotel is a new addition to Mumbai’s hotel scene, and probably one of its first real boutique hotels. Its thoughtfully curated design, food & drink offerings, and guest experience are made to make you unwind from the sensory overload of Mumbai. Featuring a rooftop calisthenic gym, a tub for epsom salt soaks, and a listening room where you can listen to your favorite vinyls while sipping a cup of coffee, if you crave a smaller, more personalized experience, The Kin Hotel is your vibe.

Novotel

Right on the beach, the Novotel is another good option in the suburbs. It’s probably the best value beachside hotel you’ll find in the city!
